Spring has Sprung and we have Anniversary News.

Our Winter pruning a distant memory and now the task of replacing trellising posts is on top of the agenda most days for Robb. Our existing trellising posts have rotted at ground level and the move to metal posts is the way forward although costly to say the least. Tying down the canes to the wire has been a pleasure this year with our Pellenc Fixion tying machine, so easy  to use and time saving we should have had one years ago I think to myself, hindsight is a wonderful thing! The sap in the vines  rose early this year and we have the start of the new growing season unfolding before our eyes.

We are well on our way with plans to celebrate our 10th anniversary since planting White Castle vineyard. A dream became a reality when we planted the first 4000 vines on May 11th 2009 and to mark this milestone a further planting of 2000 vines is due to take place 4th May 2019 when Cabernet Franc and more Pinot Noir precoce shall be planted seeing a total of 7000 vines now planted at White Castle Vineyard. Preparation of the site is complete and we are looking forward to the next phase (Planting) and metal posts are certainly first choice here when it comes to trellising.

We have tasted the fruits of our labour from vintage 2018 and plans are to release our renowned Gwin gwyn and Siegerrrebe in May. Red wine lovers will be pleased to know that plans to release vintage 2017 Pinot Noir are also on the grapevine.

Every year brings exciting and new opportunities and Robb and I pride ourselves on producing quality Welsh wines. The Cellar door is open Friday – Sunday including bank holidays and we now offer a choice of artisan platters to accompany our wines and make your visitor experience well worth going that extra mile.
